and registered with the Health Care and Professionals Council (HCPC)
The post holder will be a member of the team who has specialist general skills and will be
responsible for providing evidence based comprehensive assessment and diagnosis based
on clinical findings and support the team by delivering general and high-risk podiatry care
within a variety of care pathways, working within codes of practice and professional guidelines.
Will provide training and education opportunities for other health professionals and patients to
promote an understanding of foot care and self-care including falls prevention.
Support the development of a Foot Protection Team contributing to policies and procedures,
relating to the management and diagnosis of diabetes in the community. Main duties of the job To be responsible for managing and prioritising your own day to day workload.
Attend regular CPD events and participate in departmental team meetings.
To participate and contribute to departmental clinical audit and Research initiatives.
Will be flexible and show initiative in coping with changing circumstances relating to day-to
day planning of clinical duties.
Will have the ability to mentor and supervise podiatry students and podiatry assistants
demonstrating clinical skills and procedures.
To understand the service performance targets.
To take responsibility for monitoring stock levels and security of stock and maintenance of
equipment within your own clinical area ensuring stock is ordered when required.
To comply with relevant Trust and Departmental policies.
To follow the HCPC Standards of conduct, performance, and ethics.
To maintain the Royal College of Podiatry clinical podiatric practice guidelines
To be flexible and provide cover for other podiatrists at short notice or during periods of
absence, including specialist clinics as appropriate. Seeking advice from the advanced
podiatrists if necessary.
To report incidents, accidents, complaints, defects in drugs/equipment, near misses or SIs
following trust procedures.
To be responsible for compliance with H&S legislation including COSHH, risk assessment,
infection control and sharp policies for the podiatry service.
