This role is for a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist to provide medical leadership for the Specialist Dementia and Frailty Service (SDFS) based at St Margaret's Hospital in Epping. The Consultant will provide medical leadership for multidisciplinary team comprising other psychiatrists, CPN's, OT and psychologist. The Consultant will be expected to work closely with the clinical managers and the wider MDT to provide a safe and effective service. The Consultant will also be expected to work closely with the relevant community teams and contribute to providing an effective care pathway for patients across the service. The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician (RC) for patients under their care on a community treatment order under the Mental Health Act. The post holder will be expected to carry out the duties expected of an RC knowledgably and in a timely manner. The post holder will be expected to be knowledgeable of the Mental Capacity Act and be proficient at applying it appropriately to patient care. Main duties of the job The Consultant Psychiatrist is a key clinical leader for the Team. The post-holder is required to work independently and accountably as part of a team of clinicians offering Mental Health Services. Working collaboratively with key partner organisations, service users, carers, clinicians, and other practitioners within the multi-disciplinary team in delivering great mental health services. The post holder would be part of the senior management team of the team and be integral in developing and improving the service. You must have full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register, with an appropriate CCT or equivalent or be within six months of obtaining your CCT on the date of the AAC.
