Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust Fire Safety Advisor The closing date is 11 October 2026 Apply for this job Job summary We are seeking a Fire Safety Advisor to join the Estates & Facilities Directorate & support the delivery of a safe, compliant & well-managed estate across the Trust. This role will provide specialist fire safety advice across a diverse property portfolio, including hospitals, community sites, secure services, children's settings, offices & prison healthcare environments. The post holder will play an important role in helping the Trust meet its statutory fire safety duties & protect patients, staff, visitors & service users from fire-related risks. Key responsibilities include carrying out & maintaining fire risk assessments, supporting local fire procedures & evacuation plans, investigating fire incidents & alarm activations, delivering fire safety training, contributing to fire drills & exercises& providing assurance through clear records, trend analysis & reporting. The role will suit a confident & knowledgeable fire safety professional who can work independently, communicate clearly with clinical & non-clinical teams& provide practical advice on fire precautions, evacuation arrangements, building works & Trust policies. The successful candidate will need strong understanding of fire safety legislation, healthcare fire safety guidance & relevant technical standards, together with the ability to travel across Trust sites & work flexibly when required. Main duties of the job The Band 7 Fire Safety Advisor will deliver the provision of a comprehensive and effective fire safety service across all properties owned or operated by Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. Detailed job description and main responsibilities are set out below and in the attached Job Description. Our services include community health care such as district nursing and speech and language therapy, care for people with learning disabilities and mental health care such as psychiatry, nursing and therapies. Our 4,300 members of staff work in many different settings including hospitals, clinics, prisons, secure hospitals, children's centres, schools and people's homes.We have over 125 sites in a variety of locations in the South of England. In London we operate within the Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley Greenwich and into Kent. We manage hospital sites including Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup and Memorial Hospital, Woolwich, as well as the Bracton Centre, our medium secure unit for people with mental health needs. We are the largest NHS provider of prison health services providing healthcare to prisons within Devon, Dorset, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, Kent and South London.
