Discover yourself in Lewisham where what you do makes a difference to our vibrant and culturally diverse communities!
We have a rich history of welcoming people from all over the world and are proud to be recognised as the UK’s first Borough of Sanctuary, for our work in championing the rights of refugees and migrants.
Introduction
Are you an experienced Educational Psychologist ready to take on a senior leadership role, or seeking your first promoted post? Join Lewisham’s warm, inclusive and creative team for a 12-month fixed-term opportunity, offering the professional connection of a supportive service, the chance to shape system-wide practice and a lasting impact across a diverse local community. We warmly welcome applications from EPs currently working in the private or voluntary sector and will provide a supportive transition, strong professional connections and valuable insight into contemporary local-authority practice.
You will provide supervision and line management, contribute to service development and lead agreed areas of work, while maintaining a balanced allocation of traded, statutory, commissioned and management activity. You will bring strong professional judgement, a commitment to public service and actively anti-racist practice, and a desire to support improvement across the service and wider local authority.
What’s the role?
This part-time Senior Educational Psychologist post will strengthen and support the senior leadership team while the Principal Educational Psychologist leads Lewisham’s Experts at Hand work. You will provide line management and professional supervision to a group of EPs, supporting high-quality practice and staff wellbeing, and work closely with the Principal EP, Deputy Principal EP and other Senior EPs to contribute to the effective operational leadership of the service.
You will be central to developing our understanding of how national SEND reforms are shaping educational psychology service delivery and to translating emerging expectations into local practice. You will lead agreed service priorities, support delivery of the Service Development Plan and contribute to improvement and innovation across the team and wider local authority, alongside a balanced allocation of traded, statutory and commissioned work.
What’s in it for you?
Excellent training and development opportunities, plus a range of benefits including:
Generous holiday allowance
Local Government Pension scheme
Flexible working and family friendly policies
Season ticket and bicycle loans
A range of staff discounts including local subsidised gym memberships
Supportive staff networks
What we’re looking for
We are looking for an experienced, relationship-focused Educational Psychologist who builds trust, works collaboratively and brings sound professional judgement to complex situations.
You will be grounded in strong EP practice, open to new ideas and motivated to improve services for children, families and settings. You will combine creativity with a practical understanding of how to translate priorities into effective action.
You will want to take an active lead in management, supervision and project delivery, supporting colleagues while bringing people together around shared goals. You may already be a Senior EP or be ready to step into your first promoted role and develop further within a supportive leadership team.
Location
The team is based at Kaleidoscope, an NHS Child Development Centre, where we work alongside health colleagues. The role also involves working directly in education settings, with flexibility to complete reporting and related tasks through hybrid working.

The recruitment process is anonymous and we don’t accept CV’s.
