What’s the role? … To ensure London Borough of Lewisham (LBL) complies with all current and emerging building safety regulations and proactively promote and communicate building safety throughout the organisation and with the residents within high rise residential buildings (HRBs). As a Building Safety Manager, you will take responsibility for a portfolio of high-rise residential buildings, helping to ensure they are effectively managed in accordance with current and emerging building and fire safety requirements. You will promote a strong culture of building safety and resident engagement, working collaboratively with residents, colleagues, contractors and regulatory bodies to ensure safety risks and actions are effectively identified, managed and monitored. You will take responsibility for a portfolio of high-rise residential buildings, helping to ensure they are effectively managed and that resident safety remains at the heart of everything we do You will be able to work well under pressure and have an eye for detail alongside a passion for resident safety. You will be able to work positively and collaboratively with colleagues, partners, contractors and enforcing authorities adopting an inclusive, respectful approach and you will strongly value diversity We are looking for someone with over five years’ relevant construction experience and/or a Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety or equivalent (Evidence of successful completion and agreement of equivalence will be required before appointment) and membership of the he Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or similar fire safety body is desirable. Location The role is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU and we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis. The role also involves regular inspections of high rise blocks within the borough of Lewisham. Special conditions Proven construction experience and/or a Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety or equivalent (Evidence of successful completion and agreement of equivalence will be required before appointment) and membership of the he Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or similar fire safety body is desirable.
