About the role:
We’re looking to recruit Licensing Assistants to support the Council’s Private Sector Housing enforcement and licensing functions.
Waltham Forest is designated as a Selective Licensing area in 20 of its 22 wards and was one of the first Councils to adopt and use powers to impose financial penalties as an alternative to prosecution proceedings.
Waltham Forest also have a borough wide Additional licensing scheme to compliment Mandatory HMO Licensing.
The appointed Licensing Assistants will provide administrative, office and where necessary, fieldwork support activities in relation to the private sector housing and licensing within the Neighbourhoods and Environment Directorate. Displaying excellent verbal and written communication skills and flexibility in working patterns and practices. Successful candidates will play a central role in the delivery of licensing objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
To provide a professional, proactive, customer focused support service to the organisation within the Private Sector Housing & Licensing Team.
To assist in ensuring that all Private Rented Property Licensing applications and associated matters are processed and resulting decisions are properly prepared and issued
To assist in the proper processing of the administrative function for Private Rented Property Licensing; including data entry, arranging/attending public inquiries/hearings and liaising with the Private Rented Property Licensing Compliance and Enforcement Teams and landlords/tenants as necessary.
To represent the team and department at internal and external meetings. This may include Minute Taking and the servicing thereof.
Qualifications and Requirements:

English and Math Qualification
Relevant NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification
